J. Patrick Gavaghan
J. Patrick Gavaghan founded Keystone Corporation in 1979 and serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. As a diversified real estate company, Keystone Corporation builds, owns and manages a range of high-end developments, specializing in industrial/commercial, multi- and single-family residential projects. Mr. Gavaghan’s passion is taking a raw piece of land, envisioning a structure that will serve a business and the community, and then making that vision into a reality – a reality that will stand the test of time, that will provide people with an inviting, friendly environment, that will give those who pass by a sense of pride.
Award winning developments include Keystone Park in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, a 2.2 million square foot campus consisting of Class “A” office, research & development, and warehouse space, and Keystone Pacific Business Park in Patterson, California, a 1.7 million square foot business campus of warehouse, distribution, and flex space. Keystone Corporation’s residential developments have received numerous accolades and consist of six premiere apartment communities and four first class townhome developments in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and a 1,050 lot subdivision with a 20 acre retail site in Patterson, California.
Prior to forming Keystone, Mr. Gavaghan served as the first Associate Director for the North Carolina State University Wolfpack Club and Assistant Coach for the North Carolina State University Swim Team. He also served two years in the United States Army.
Mr. Gavaghan is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a 1967 graduate of North Carolina State University. He is a former All-American swimmer and five-time ACC Champion in the 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard and 1,650-yard freestyle. Mr. Gavaghan was an alternate on the 1968 US Olympic team.
Mr. Gavaghan is currently a member of the Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. He is a lifetime member of both the North Carolina State University Alumni Association and the Wolfpack Club. Mr. Gavaghan is also a major contributor to the Caldwell Fellows Scholarship Program, the Entrepreneurial Education Initiative and the College of Natural Resources.
